Ingredients You’ll Need
(Keep scrolling to the recipe card below for the full printable recipe!)
- Oreo cookies – the base of your turkey; regular or double-stuffed both work great.
- Candy corn – use these as the bright, festive tail feathers.
- Candy eyes – two for each turkey to give them a playful personality.
- Butterscotch chips – perfect for the turkey’s beak.
- Vanilla frosting – this will act as your edible “glue” to hold everything together.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Tint the Frosting: Divide the vanilla frosting evenly into two small bowls. To one bowl, add a generous amount of red gel food coloring, and stir until fully blended. You’ll have one bowl of plain frosting and one bowl of red frosting ready to go.

Step 2 — Prep the Piping Bags: Spoon the plain vanilla frosting into one piping bag and the red frosting into another. Snip off just the very tip of each bag — you’ll want small openings so the frosting is easy to control for decorating.
Step 3 — Create the Turkey Feathers: Take one Oreo cookie and gently wedge 5 pieces of candy corn into the cream layer at the top edge to form the turkey’s tail feathers. Press carefully to avoid cracking the cookie.

Step 4 — Add the Eyes and Beak: Use the plain frosting to pipe small dots where you want the eyes and beak to go. Press two candy eyes and one butterscotch chip (point side down) into the frosting dots to create the face.
Step 5 — Make the Gobbler: With the red frosting, pipe a small line next to the beak to form the turkey’s gobbler (or wattle).
Step 6 — Enjoy: Let the frosting set for a few minutes, then serve your turkey Oreo Cookies on a platter or pack them up for Thanksgiving gifts and classroom parties.
