Description

These Oreo spider cookies are a quick and festive no-bake Halloween treat. They’re simple enough for kids to help with and perfect for parties or classroom snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 18 Double-Stuffed Oreos
  • Eye ball candies
  • Licorice ropes, cut into 1-inch pieces (or Twizzler Pull ’n’ Peel, pretzel sticks)
  • Black icing (or melted chocolate, peanut butter)

Equipment

  • Parchment paper
  • Small scissors or kitchen shears

Instructions

  1. Place a sheet of parchment paper on the counter or a baking sheet. This gives you a clean spot to work and a place for the finished cookies to rest.
  2. Use kitchen scissors or a sharp knife to cut the licorice ropes into 1-inch pieces. You’ll need eight pieces for each Oreo Spider. Set them aside in a small bowl for easy grabbing.
  3. Twist each Oreo gently until the top cookie comes off. Try to keep all the cream filling on one side. If a cookie breaks, don’t worry you’ll have extras.
  4. Take four licorice pieces and press them into the cream filling on one side of the Oreo. Repeat on the other side so your spider has eight legs total. If the legs aren’t sticking, press them a little deeper into the cream.
  5. Place the top half of the Oreo back on and press it down gently. Be careful not to push too hard or the cream will squish out the sides.
  6. Using the black icing, pipe two small dots on the top of the Oreo. This works as glue for the eyes. You can also use melted chocolate or peanut butter if you prefer.
  7. Press one candy eyeball into each icing dot. Hold for a second so they stick in place. Repeat with the rest of the cookies until all of your spiders are “looking” at you.
  8. Let the cookies sit for 5–10 minutes so the icing firms up. Arrange them on a tray or plate and enjoy your spooky, silly creations.

Notes

  • Double-Stuffed Oreos work best because the extra filling holds the legs securely.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Avoid refrigerating, as it softens the cookies.
