  • Fresh lemons – You’ll juice these. Fresh lemons give the best bright, clean flavor
  • Fresh mint leaves – Adds that classic mojito freshness
  • Sugar – Sweetens the drink. You can adjust to taste
  • Sparkling water or soda – Use club soda for light and fresh, or lemon-lime soda for sweeter flavor
  • Ice cubes – Keeps everything cold and refreshing
  • Lemon slices (optional) – For garnish and extra citrus flavor
  • Mint sprigs (optional) – Makes it pretty and adds a fresh aroma

How to Make a Lemon Mojito Mocktail

1. Juice the lemons and prep the base. Squeeze your lemons into a small bowl and set the juice aside. In a cocktail shaker or tall glass, add the mint leaves and sugar.

2. Muddle the mint and sugar. Gently press the mint and sugar together until the mint smells fresh and fragrant. This helps release all that lovely flavor. Be careful not to overdo it or the mint can turn bitter.

3. Mix in the lemon juice. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the glass and stir well until the sugar starts to dissolve and everything is nicely combined. Give it a quick taste and adjust sweetness if needed.

4. Add ice and pour. Fill a serving glass with ice cubes, then pour the mint and lemon mixture over the top.

5. Top, stir, and serve. Add sparkling water or soda to fill the glass. Stir gently to combine, then garnish with a lemon slice and mint sprig. Serve right away while it’s cold and bubbly.

Variations to Try

  • Strawberry Lemon Mojito – Add a few mashed fresh strawberries to the glass before muddling for a naturally sweet and fruity twist that kids especially love.
  • Cucumber Lemon Mojito – Drop in a few thin cucumber slices for a cool, spa-like flavor that makes this drink extra refreshing on hot days.
  • Basil Lemon Twist – Swap the mint for fresh basil if you want a slightly deeper, herbal flavor that pairs beautifully with lemon.
  • Low Sugar Version – Use a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit to keep the drink light while still enjoying that sweet citrus balance.
  • Sparkling Lemonade Style – Replace the sparkling water with lemon-lime soda for a sweeter, more soda-like version that tastes like a fizzy lemonade treat.
