4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

Soft and gooey 4th of July Rice Krispie treats that never turn hard. Easy to make, fun to decorate, and perfect for summer parties.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows (about 10 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup red meltable candies
  • 1/2 cup white meltable candies
  • 1/2 cup blue meltable candies
  • Sprinkles, as desired

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.
  2. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and immediately mix in the Rice Krispies cereal until well coated.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into a lined or greased 9×13 inch pan and flatten evenly.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully set.
  6. Lift out using parchment paper and cut into squares.
  7. Melt red, white, and blue candies separately according to package instructions.
  8. Dip each square into melted candy and let excess drip off.
  9. Place on parchment paper and add sprinkles while coating is still wet.
  10. Let set at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.

Notes

  • Keep heat low when melting marshmallows to prevent hard treats.
  • Do not over mix or overpack the mixture.
  • Store at room temperature for best texture.
