Description
These cute scarecrow pretzel rods are a no-bake fall treat that’s perfect for kids to help make! With a few simple ingredients, you’ll create a crunchy, chocolate-dipped snack that’s as festive as it is fun. Great for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or classroom parties.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 ounces brown melting chocolate
- 2 1/2 ounces white melting chocolate
- 1 ounce orange melting chocolate
- 1 ounce yellow melting chocolate
- Candy eyes
- Mini Oreos
- Mini peanut butter cups
- Reese’s Pieces
- Piping bags
- Microwave-safe bowls
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Prep the chocolate: Add the white melting chocolate and 1 ½ ounces of the brown chocolate to a medium microwave-safe bowl and set aside.
- Make the hat “glue”: Melt 1 ounce of brown chocolate in 15–30 second intervals until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag and snip a tiny hole at the tip.
- Build the scarecrow hats: Separate the mini Oreos and remove the filling. Use the melted chocolate to attach a mini peanut butter cup to each Oreo half to form the hat.
- Melt and dip: Melt the white and brown chocolates together, then pour into a tall cup. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way, coating evenly. Place on parchment paper and let dry for about 8–10 minutes.
- Add the face: Attach candy eyes about an inch from the top, then pipe on a small smile. Add short horizontal lines for “stitches” if desired.
- Give your scarecrow hair: Melt the yellow candy melts, pipe along the top edge of each pretzel for “straw hair,” and immediately place the Oreo hats on top while the chocolate is still soft.
- Add the scarf and buttons: Pipe zig-zag lines with the orange chocolate just below the smile, then press on Reese’s Pieces as buttons. Let dry completely before serving or wrapping.
Notes
- These Scarecrow pretzels can be stored in air tight container in a cool dry place for 4 days.
- You can use candy coated chocolates for the buttons if you don’t want two ingredients with peanut butter.
- I used brown and white chocolate because I did not have food coloring. If you have food coloring you can just color your white chocolate a lighter color brown.
