For the Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Crush Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor.
  3. In a bowl, mix crushed Oreos, flour, cornstarch, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt.
  4. In a stand mixer, cream butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  5. Add oil and egg, mixing until fully combined.
  6. Add dry ingredients and mix until a thick dough forms, scraping the sides as needed.
  7. Scoop large portions of dough onto baking sheets using a large cookie scoop.
  8. Gently flatten into thick discs.
  9. Bake for about 10 minutes, until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
  10. Cool completely on the baking sheet.
  11. Beat butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  12. Frost cooled cookies and sprinkle with Oreo crumbs.

  • Chilling the dough helps create thicker cookies with a softer center.
  • Do not overbake to keep the cookies soft and fudgy.
